Pang Valley Winterbourne Restoration Community Drop-In

Between East Ilsley and Compton we’re bringing back a winterbourne, a seasonal chalk stream, and before work starts this summer we’re holding a drop-in so you can see what’s planned.

When groundwater is high, water runs across the fields, washing sediment down into the River Pang and adding to the flood risk in Compton. Restoring the winterbourne gives that water a natural route to follow, which slows it down, holds it back and reduces what reaches the river, while improving the byway and creating new habitat along the valley.
