Community Emergency Plan – Invitation to Join the Working Party

The Parish Council is developing a Community Emergency Plan to help the parish prepare and respond effectively in emergencies. Residents are invited to join the Working Party.

Published: 10 July 2026

The Parish Council has agreed to develop a Community Emergency Plan for Hampstead Norreys. This plan will set out how the parish can support itself during an emergency, particularly in the early stages before the emergency services are able to attend. It will identify local risks, the resources and skills available within the community, and practical arrangements that can help keep people safe and informed.

Developing a Community Emergency Plan enables the parish to prepare and respond more effectively by:

  • identifying people who may be willing to help during an incident
  • determining local risks and how they might affect the community
  • establishing equipment and resources that could be used
  • identifying a suitable community building that could act as a safe location if needed

Because the plan relies on local knowledge, it is important that it is shaped by the community as a whole. The Parish Council is therefore forming a Community Emergency Plan Working Party and is seeking expressions of interest from residents who would like to assist with this work.

The Working Party will:

  • meet regularly from autumn 2026 until the plan is completed
  • help gather information, identify local resources, and consider how the parish could respond to different types of emergencies
  • review the completed plan on a yearly basis to ensure it remains current

Membership of the Working Party will be formally agreed at the Parish Council meeting on 24 September 2026.

Residents who are interested in joining are invited to contact the Clerk at enquiries@hampsteadnorreysparishcouncil.gov.uk
